class. This is the third item's accordion body. Nothing more exciting happening here in terms of content, but just filling up the space to make it look, at least at first glance, a bit more representative of how this would look in a real-world application. On December 1, 2022, at 6 p.m., the eleventh edition of Prima Diffusa, the event promoted by Milan's Municipality and Edison dedicated to the title chosen for the Prima di Sant'Ambrogio, will officially start.
This year, the Teatro alla Scala season opens with Kasper Holten's version of Boris Godunov, the working-class music drama by Modest Musorgskij.
The Prima Diffusa brings the energy of La Scala's Premiere to 35 city venues: the schedule, which will animate Milan and not only from December 1 to 11, includes numerous free events including concerts, exhibitions and installations, screenings, workshops, conferences and meetings, and some of these, as usual, see the involvement of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
Therefore, appointment in the Sala della Balla of the Castello Sforzesco for the opening event, a captivating and engaging narration of the libretto and the context in which the story is set, entrusted to the musicologist Fabio Sartorelli and the young students of the Music Department of the La Scala Academy - opera singers and musicians.
The following day, at 9 p.m., Sartorelli's special listening guide will instead touch on the musical context coeval with Musorgskij, again thanks to the interpretation of soloists, orchestra and the Academy's master collaborators ('Attorno a Boris Godunov', Teatro Civico Roberto De Silva – Piazza Jannacci 1, Rho).
Sunday (December 4) will be dedicated to children from 5 to 11 years old: at BASE Milano, starting at 10.30 a.m., it will be possible to participate in music and movement workshops to discover Musorgskij.
On Monday December 5, at 7 p.m., space will be given to dance at PACTA dei Teatri: the Ballet School's students and the Orchestra's musicians will be accompanied by the words of musicologist Monica Dreossi in an original performance specially created for Prima Diffusa, with choreography by Emanuela Tagliavia based on extracts from one of Musorkskij's masterpieces, Quadri di un’esposizione. This same title - with which the composer paid homage to his friend Victor Hartmann, a painter and architect who died prematurely - will be the focus of the piano recital proposed by the Academy on Tuesday December 6 at 7.30 p.m., at the Milan Conservatory, entrusted to the interpretation of Gabriele Duranti.
Unmissable then, in numerous spaces in the city of Milan, are the listening guides that introduce the opera immediately before the performance, on December 7 at 4.30 p.m., and that see the involvement of the Academy's professionals - teachers and former students.
In addition to the appointments curated by the La Scala school, the programme of Prima Diffusa 2022, which you can download here, includes numerous other events. All screenings and performances are free, but for some venues reservations are required. Appointments may be subject to changes in dates and times, check the YESMilano website for updates.
